Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Convauction and the conveyancing process.

What is Convauction and how does it work?

Convauction is a UK-based online marketplace that connects property buyers and sellers with regulated conveyancing solicitors. You register as a Client, describe your transaction, and solicitors on our platform submit competitive quotes. You can then review their profiles, ratings, and pricing, and instruct the solicitor that best fits your needs, all in one place.

What is the difference between a Client account and a Solicitor account?

A Client account is for individuals or businesses who are buying, selling, remortgaging, or transferring property. A Solicitor account is for regulated legal professionals who wish to list their conveyancing services, receive enquiries, and manage cases through the platform. Both account types are completely free to register.

How do I find a solicitor for my property transaction?

Once you register as a Client and submit your transaction details, our platform matches you with available solicitors in your area or nationally. You can browse solicitor profiles, read reviews from previous clients, compare fixed fee quotes, and send an enquiry directly through the platform. There is no obligation to instruct a solicitor until you are fully ready to proceed.

Are the solicitors on Convauction regulated and verified?

Yes. All solicitors and conveyancers listed on Convauction are required to hold current authorisation from the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) or the Council for Licensed Conveyancers (CLC). We verify each solicitor registration before their account becomes publicly visible on the platform, so you can instruct with confidence.

How much does conveyancing cost through Convauction?

Solicitor fees vary depending on the type of transaction (purchase, sale, or remortgage), the property value, and whether the property is leasehold or freehold. Because solicitors on Convauction compete for your business, you typically receive more competitive quotes than you would by going directly to a high street firm. All quotes include a full breakdown of legal fees and disbursements so there are no hidden costs.

How long does the conveyancing process typically take?

The average UK conveyancing transaction takes between 8 and 12 weeks from instruction to completion, although this varies depending on the complexity of the chain, mortgage requirements, and the speed of searches and enquiries. Remortgages and transfers of equity are usually quicker and typically complete within 4 to 6 weeks.

Is my personal and financial information secure on this platform?

Yes. Convauction uses industry-standard SSL encryption across the entire platform to protect your data in transit. We do not store payment card details on our servers. All personal data is handled in full accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and our Privacy Policy.

Can I use Convauction for both buying and selling a property?

Yes. You can manage multiple transactions simultaneously under a single Client account, including a simultaneous sale and purchase as part of a property chain. Each transaction is handled separately within the platform, and you can choose to instruct the same solicitor for both sides or select different solicitors if you prefer.

What happens if I am unhappy with my solicitor service?

In the first instance, you should raise a complaint directly with the solicitor firm using their internal complaints procedure, which all regulated firms are legally required to have in place. If the matter is not resolved to your satisfaction, you can escalate to the Legal Ombudsman or the SRA. You can also leave an honest review on Convauction to help inform other clients.

Do I need to register before I can use Convauction?

You can browse the platform and view solicitor listings without registering. However, to receive quotes, contact solicitors directly, or manage a transaction, you will need to create a free Client account. Registration takes under two minutes and no payment details are required at the point of sign-up.
