Getting started

What is ConvyGo and how does it work?

ConvyGo is a UK online marketplace that connects people who are buying, selling or remortgaging a property with regulated conveyancers. You post your enquiry (a purchase, a sale, a remortgage, or a sale and purchase together), conveyancers send you fixed-fee quotes, and you choose the one you want to instruct.

We introduce you to the conveyancer. The legal work itself is carried out by the conveyancer’s firm, and ConvyGo is not a law firm.

Does it cost anything to use ConvyGo?

No. ConvyGo does not charge clients to register, post an enquiry or receive quotes. You only pay the conveyancer you choose to instruct, at the fee in their quote.

Do I need an account?

You can start an enquiry on the homepage without one. To submit it and receive quotes you create a free account and verify your email address. We ask for verification so conveyancers can trust that enquiries come from real people. Your enquiry is saved as a draft and goes live to conveyancers as soon as you have verified.

What is the difference between a client account and a conveyancer account?

A client account is for people buying, selling or remortgaging property. A conveyancer account is for SRA- or CLC-regulated professionals who want to quote for work. Both are free to open, and conveyancers are verified before they can quote. Are you a conveyancer? See our Conveyancer FAQs.

Enquiries and quotes

How do I post an enquiry?

Start on the homepage: choose your type of move, tell us about the property and your situation, then create your account. Once your email is verified, your enquiry is visible to verified conveyancers, who can send you quotes.

Who can see my enquiry and my contact details?

Only conveyancers verified by ConvyGo can see the details of your enquiry. Your contact details stay hidden while conveyancers are quoting. They are revealed only to the conveyancer you choose, once that conveyancer has confirmed the job.

How do quotes work?

Conveyancers review your enquiry and send a fixed-fee quote, often with a breakdown or a note on how they will handle your case. You are notified as each quote arrives, and you can shortlist quotes and compare them side by side on your job page.

How long is a quote valid for?

Each quote is valid for 7 days from the day the conveyancer submitted it. After that it expires, so make your choice within that window.

Is the quote the final price?

A quote is a fixed fee for the conveyancer’s legal work. Costs that come from third parties, such as search fees, Land Registry fees and Stamp Duty Land Tax, are called disbursements and are usually paid in addition. Check what each quote includes before you choose. Our Help & Resources guides explain what you are paying for.

Choosing your conveyancer

Are the conveyancers regulated?

Yes. Conveyancers must be regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) or the Council for Licensed Conveyancers (CLC), and we verify their regulatory status before their account can quote on ConvyGo. Each conveyancer remains responsible for their own professional conduct.

How do I choose between quotes?

Look beyond the headline price. Compare what each quote includes, the timescales given, the conveyancer’s profile and their client ratings. You are under no obligation until you choose one.

What happens when I choose a quote?

The conveyancer is notified and has 24 hours to confirm the job. While you wait, your other quotes are kept on hold and you cannot switch. If they confirm, your Project Room opens. If they do not, your enquiry reopens and any of your other quotes that are still valid come back.

Does choosing a quote mean I have hired them?

Choosing a quote selects your conveyancer on ConvyGo. Your legal agreement is with their firm: they will send you their client care letter, and a contract arises when you formally instruct them and accept it. Submitting an enquiry on its own does not create a contract with anyone.

During your transaction

How do I talk to my conveyancer?

Once your conveyancer has confirmed the job, you both get a Project Room on ConvyGo with secure chat, file sharing and an activity log. You are notified when your conveyancer sends a message or shares a document.

How does delivery and approval work?

When your conveyancer marks work as delivered, you are notified and have 2 days to review it. You can approve it, or request a revision and explain what needs to change. You can request up to three revisions; after the third, our team reviews the job and gets in touch. If you do not respond, the work is approved automatically after 2 days, and we send a reminder after 24 hours.

How long does conveyancing usually take?

Typically 8 to 12 weeks from instruction to completion, although it varies with the complexity of the chain, your mortgage and the searches. Your conveyancer can give you a realistic timetable at the outset.

Can I leave a review?

Yes. Once a job is completed you can rate your conveyancer on overall experience, communication, professionalism, value and speed, and add a written comment. Reviews appear on the conveyancer’s profile and help other clients choose.

Cancellations and problems

Can I cancel my enquiry?

Yes. If you have not yet chosen a conveyancer, you can cancel at no cost. If a conveyancer has already confirmed the job, tell us why from your Project Room and our team will review the request and get in touch. ConvyGo never charges you either way.

What if I do not get any quotes?

Open enquiries stay live for 30 days. If nothing has been accepted by then, the enquiry expires and we let you know. You can post again at any time, and you are welcome to contact us if you would like help.

What if my conveyancer withdraws?

You are notified straight away. You can post your enquiry again to receive new quotes, and our team will help if anything needs sorting out.

What if my transaction falls through?

Let us know using the option to report an issue in your Project Room. Our team will review it and close the job appropriately. You do not pay ConvyGo anything either way.

What if I am unhappy with my conveyancer?

Raise it with the firm first: regulated firms must have a complaints procedure. If it is not resolved, you can take it to the Legal Ombudsman once the firm has issued its final response or 8 weeks have passed. You can also tell us, and we will look into it.

Your data and account

How is my personal information protected?

ConvyGo uses SSL encryption across the platform, and we do not store payment card details. We share your enquiry only with verified conveyancers and your contact details only with the conveyancer you choose. Our Privacy Policy explains how we use and protect your data in full.

How do I close or delete my account?

You can permanently delete your account from your account settings at any time, or email support@convygo.co.uk and we will help.
